Park Lookout
Affiliate disclosure
Short version: Park Lookout may earn a commission from some links, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we tell you about a park.
How affiliate links work here
Some links on Park Lookout may be affiliate links to things like tours, lodging, rental cars and outdoor gear. If you click one and book or buy something, the company may pay us a small commission. You pay the same price either way.
As of October 24, 2026, the site has no affiliate links. When we add them, they’ll be labeled on the page where they appear, and we’ll update this page.
What commissions never affect
- Park status and closures. Open, partial, significant and closed tags, alerts, closures, hours and fees come from the National Park Service’s official data (and weather alerts from the National Weather Service). No partner can pay to change or influence them.
- Our guides. We write about what’s useful for a park trip, whether or not a link earns anything.
- Park passes and reservations. We link to the official sources, nps.gov and Recreation.gov, and don’t earn anything from passes, permits or timed-entry reservations.
Park Lookout is an independent site. It isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the National Park Service or the U.S. Department of the Interior, and NPS doesn’t endorse any company we link to.
Chip in
The Chip in button is a voluntary way to support the site. It’s entirely optional, you don’t get anything extra for it, and it doesn’t affect anything on the site. Payments are processed by Stripe. Park Lookout isn’t a charity, so chip-ins aren’t tax-deductible.
