Prescribed Burn Planned in Great Basin National Park to Improve Habitat and Reduce Wildfire Risk
Great Basin National Park plans an approximately 80-acre prescribed burn in the Baker Creek watershed starting the week of Nov. 2, conditions permitting.
Baker Creek and Grey Cliffs campgrounds close for the winter at noon PST on Nov. 2. Baker Creek Road and Pole Canyon Road will close at the winter turnaround gates, and the Baker Creek Trailhead and burn area will be closed during operations.
Smoke may be visible from Baker and parts of Snake Valley and may settle in low-lying areas overnight. Areas closed for the burn reopen once operations are complete and conditions are safe.
